Tilt

Today is one of those days where nothing goes right. It all start in the early stages of my first STT. I held J6 to a flop of J64. I placed a sizeable bet, got a caller. The turn was a 4 and I go all-in. The caller shows 64. That put me in a bad frame of mind!

The second hand of my second game, I hold pocket 8's and the flop is QQQ. I go all-in and get beat by pocket aces. That's fair enough, but there were warning signs, and did have the chance to fold. Previous game had some bearing on this.

My third game was going well until my JJ and KK got cracked. They got called by the same guy with garbage and got lucky.

I did something that I shouldn't have done next. I went over to the cash tables. I normally play 35p/70p fixed limit. My reasoning was that things couldn't get worse. But they did! I lost my £20 buy-in.

Feeling a bit better now. Won an STT. In the first hand I had pocket kings. Managed to get all my chips in and 2 callers. Tripled up. Plain sailing from there.

Slow start

Slow start to the evening. I've played 4 games and only managed one 3rd place.

Agressive players

In my first STT of the day, I finish third. There was an agressive player at the table. Difficult to play against them sometimes. Mainly because they get lucky! There were 2 critical hands. I have AJ, 1,200 chips and raise to 600 chips. The agressive player calls and the flop is A76. I go all-in and he calls with A3. But, the turn is an ace and river a 7. We split the pot. I finally go out on a board of 722 when holding Q7. The aggressive players calls my all-in with J7 and hits the J on the river. I also had a little luck in this game. Won a hand with K-high straight flush, when holding the K and J too. Didn't win many chips with it though.

I win my second STT of the day. The defining hand was early in the game. I held pocket 2's and flopped a set. It held up against top pair and the flush draw, so I tripled up. Plain sailing from there.

Third game, I go out early. I hate going out in this manner. How on earth my opponent can call on the turn and river is beyond me.

4th game. Couldn't really get going in this one. Played a couple of big pots, but they ended in splits. Then, I played pocket 8's weakly and lost half my stack. I was in imminent danger of going out when the poker site went down. I guess I'll get my money back. That was a stroke of luck!

5th game. Good solid game. I finished 3rd. I was short stacked throughout and just limped into the money.

6th Game. Won this one. Nothing of any note happened.

7th Game. Another win. I flopped a straight towards the end of the first level and doubled up. From then on it was plain sailing.

First post

I only tend to play for small stakes. I'm giving up the cash tables altogether I think. I keep getting outplayed and losing. Today I lost £15 on the 25p NL tables. Doesn't sound much, but I hate losing.

Over the months, the only way I consistantly make any kind of 'money' is in the £1 STT's. Today, I've played 6 STT's and had 2 wins and 1 second. When getting knocked out before the money, it's usually the result of bad luck rather than bad play on my part (I guess we all say that!).

In my last STT, I had 3 bits of bad luck. In the 3rd hand, I held A6 and had trip aces after the turn, but lost to A10. That cost me 300 of my 1000 chips. Then, soon afterwards, I landed pocket queens and put up a reasonable raise. Got one caller, but lost to a flush. Down to 300 chips. In the end, I went all-in with pocket 7's. Got one caller with A6 and lost to the ace on the river. C'est la vie!
